I believe writing is shaped, not fixed. It takes patience, attention, and respect for the voice already on the page. I came to this work as a writer first. I learned how to stay with drafts in their most uncertain stages, how to listen for what a piece is trying to become, and how to help clarity emerge without sanding away meaning.
Ways to Work Together
1:1 Coaching for Writers
Coaching is for writers who need conversation, direction, or momentum rather than markup. These sessions are collaborative and flexible. We might talk through a stuck draft, map a revision plan, clarify goals, or work through questions about process and voice. Some writers come once. Others return at different stages of a project. This is especially helpful if you feel close to the work and need an outside eye to help you see it clearly again.
Line Editing & Proofreading
Works closely at the sentence level to improve flow, precision, and readability while preserving rhythm and voice. Line editing sharpens clarity and language; proofreading provides the final polish once the work is settled. Rate: $0.05/word
Includes:
- Grammar, punctuation, spelling, tense, and agreement
- Clarity and concision improvements, including word choice and rhythm
- Consistency checks for names, capitalization, numerals, hyphenation, and basic style
Developmental Editing
Focuses on structure, pacing, and voice to strengthen clarity, cohesion, and emotional impact. Rate: $0.08/word
Includes:
- Line and copy editing for sentence-level clarity, flow, and voice
- Structural and pacing feedback (plot logic, scene order, character arcs, stakes)
- Targeted rewrites to strengthen hooks, transitions, and unclear moments
- Craft-focused edits addressing POV, tone, repetition, and exposition balance
